Our History

The History of the Bath Scout and Guide Gang Show.

1997 - 2001

The Bath & District Scout and Guide Gang Show started in 1997 when two of the Bath city-centre Harlequins Venture Scouts, Adrian Cottle and Jimi Mackrell-Anstee started talking about making a film starring some of the venture scouts. By the next week the talk of a short film had somehow turned into the start of the Gang Show.
The first show was a small group show, called the Harlequins and Co. Gang Show, which was open to the district and included mainly Ventures and Guides from the city-centre groups.
When putting a Gang Show on was first mentioned it received laughs and sniggers but only six months later it was proved that one could be pulled off. With about twenty cast, a pianist, back-stage and front-of-house crew, a church-hall and nearly all three nights sold out, it was a great success and started what we know today.

2001 - 2004

The following year the Harlequins and Co. Gang Show was called the Bath District Scout and Guide Gang Show and turned into a District Gang Show, including over six groups in Bath.  We were also allowed to wear our own scarf, royal blue with a red and yellow ribbon across the back, as part of our Gang Show uniform.  In 2001 a new logo was decided upon, two drama masks with 'Bath & District Scout and Guide Gang Show' written around them.

After the 2002 show: Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now! it was decided that 'Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now!' would become the Bath Gang Show slogon.  The cast each year are proud to sing the song and each time it rings out that there really is:

Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now!

2004

The Gang move to the Wroughton Theatre and were delighted after a lot of hard work, determination and commitment over a number of years to be awarded the Red Scarf and Gold GS Emblem, for reaching the high standards set out by Ralph Reader and upheld by the National Scout entertainment team.

2006

The Bath Gang Show moved to a larger theatre, the Kingswood Theatre, Lansdown, to accommodate the larger cast, crew and show.

2007

The Bath Gang Show are delighted to be represented at the 21st World Scout Jamboree as well as being invited to perform at LIVE 07 at the O2 Arena, London.
